The History of Nicknames

In the beginning, The sequence of education system of the children  in kadavanthra and  local places was went in the following manner .Most of the children in kadavanthra and the local places such asChilavanoor,Konthuruthy ,perumanoor, and elankulam were depend on St.Joseph school for the primary education The little children  have studied in this school  until grade seventh..After  completing   grade seventh the children have admitted to various local schools for their high school educations within the local schools like Elankulam West  school, SRV School ,St Thomas Girls High School , Government Girls School . However most of the Christians families prefer their children should  continue in the Christian schools and  they have preferred Sacred Heart High school for boys and St.Thomas school  for girls.

Since I was from a Christian family  my father also admitted me and my brother  in Sacred Heart High school Thevara .My brother have studied till grade seventh in Kadavanthra St.Joseph School and moved  to Sacred hart school Thevara Since he was enroll into Sacred Heart High School I was also admitted in the same school .Both these school administrated by the Christian management and the priests and nuns were staff members in those schools . Most of the  staff members in these school had nick names .These names  evoke both the sense of novelty and creativity .Those nick names engender  from different contexts  such as family history, body language, communication, behavior ,subject specialization and many more

Chameleon
There was a teacher who taught drawing. He was a lean and young man had thick black beard He did not tuck the shirt  he use to wore full sleeve shirt and  tightly folded  the shirt hands .The black beard must be one of his intellectual identities .I exactly do not know his name .Most of the time he was a substitute for the staff members who was  absent in school . fine art was one of the  insignificant  modules  those days  he scribble certain images  on the black board and students use to copy it Since he deals with the variations of colour he was known as Chameleon

Mr. Augustan the Half
Indulekha was one of the accompanying text for English literature in grade tenth and Mr.Augstaine was a good teacher who dealt this text . His subject specialization was chemistry however he was also teach English literature. Mr. Augustan’s nick name is pathi / half because he was a theology student and almost completed formal education for the priesthood however, later he got married .Since he has given it up the priesthood in the half way the students use to called him Paathi or Augustan the half

Rev.Fr.Vincent  Panikulam
Rev Fr.Vincent Panikulam was  my Physics teacher he had two nick names such as papanji and  Ezathuchan. Both the ecclesiastic attire and his  abdomen reminds the form of Santa it is one of the reasons he is compared with Santa  Claus
.Fr.Panikulam’s teaching methodology  emphasized on various writing assignment .Due to those writing assignments   he is related with the name of  Malayalam Classical Poet Thunchaththu  Ramanujan Ezhuthachan

Mottechi or a women had a shaved cranium
St.Thomas girls school is one of the known school neighbor to my native place .This school administrated by nuns. The priest hood is a way of life . The white secretarial attire is the metaphor of purity .It also portrays the detachment of physical life. They have only allowed to wear the priestly attire and a rosary. The  attire which they had utterly covered their body This dress also dramatically portray the  detachment from material life. Initially there was restriction for them to  growing their  hair .Moreover their head remain  shaved in the priesthood .However the scenario is changed because  .
Until now the nuns are known by the oldest custom. Initially this name gives me a little embracement because a few nuns who taught me in primary school  and I have  seen the long hair comes out from the veil. Mothers are the first encyclopedia of all the little kids in fact I was not an exceptional kid and mother has explained about the etymology of this nick name

Vishali
The name Vishali is  gives  two different perceptions to us The first one is that  it was one  of the ancient cities in Bihar had close associations with both Buddhism and Jainism. there were 7,707 pleasure grounds and equal number of lotus ponds . Another perspective of Vishali is about a female character from Mahabharata  and the renewed Malayalam film director Barathan has directed a Malayalam movie entitled Vishali . Moreover it was  one of the blockbuster Malayalam movie in that time Suparna Anand was a renowned Indian film actress who enacted the role of vishali .
In this movie   Vishali portrayed as a women  who seduce the young monk .Since the teacher who appointed in our school was a pretty women that must be one of the reasons  students called her Vishali .

Karavakaran
The bicycle is  a simple vehicle which many profession and the business demands . I have seen different form of bicycle in the daily life .
A postman use bicycle to distribute mails to people .A fish seller also use a cycle to  run  his business  on an old stinking rusted bicycle
A vegetable vender segregate green snake guard, bottle guard  and yellow pumpkin . The separated vegetables he kept in different baskets and carry it on a  bicycle  for the business .
A coconut tree climber also carry a bamboo ladder in his one hand however he dexterously   balanced the strong Hercules bicycle with his single hand
the person who milk cow also had a cycle  and he is known as Karavakaran. He milk the cow both early in the morning and evening . One of my teacher had an old rusted  green Hercules cycle which a Karavakaran also had. Few naughty students closely observe the resemblance between these two  bicycles and made Karavakaran as a Nike name for this teacher

Petta
Pttta mean a fruit do not have substance. Teacher is a way of life .However, the teacher appointment or staffing  in the government aided  management schools and  colleges in Kerala are depend on the donation .Unfortunately,  we had  a couple  of  incompatible teachers .Moreover, there was a teacher  who teach English and history in our school his name is Raju Due to his submissive style of teaching he was called Petta .

A story of mind, medicine and magic

A few artists deliberately implement the possibilities of two opposing function or the different extremes in a work of art and this strange communion may create a contradiction to our presupposition. However, it also make a awful insight or a new ways of perception to the viewer . The renowned French artist Rene Magritte ‘s paintings deals with the conglomeration of presupposed icon amalgam .His painting entitled Haggle’s holiday is one of the typical examples for this mode of representation .There is an article entitled ,’sovereign stain ‘ is based on this work .This article is based on a beautiful letter conversation of Magritte to the renewed cultural theorist Susi Gamblic .Objective of these letters explain the geneses and the engender of the work of art entitled Hegel's Holiday.

This works of art is a conglomeration or the juxtaposition of two opposing functions .Two objects which he incorporated in this work of art is a glass and an umbrella .This letter says one hundred and fifty sketches Magritte made prelude tothe final piece of art. In this conversation Magritte says a glass that admit water unlike an umbrella repel water .In the month of June the Bashaposhni magazine portray the biography and curative experience of Dr.Achapalla Joseph. While reading about this Gynecologist and her memorable curative experience. I could correlate her biography with the usage of opposite force in a work of art in general particularly Rene Magritte’s painting entitled The Hegell’s Holiday and his scripture discussion with Suzi Gablik

being a Gynecologist her responsibility to take care the new breath .her way of life can very well compare with Gardner who take care the flourishing vegetation and dazzling blossoms .She is also a person who receive the new born baby However this eighty seven year old doctor remain as a spinster.

A story of mind, medicine and magic.

Bashaposhini is one of the oldest Malayalam literary review magazines . In the month of June Bashaposhini magazine showcase the curative experience of three different doctors .They are Dr.Punanjital Kunjabudalla,Dr. Dr.Achapilla Joseph And Dr. Kraveendran . In The first article Dr. Punanathil Kunjabudalla featured his therapeutic experience. But the last two articles are the couple interviews of Dr.Achapilla Joseph with Mr.V.K Sri Raman and Dr. Ravindreen, interviewed by Ms.Asha Thomas.
Ms. thomas begun her writing with a gentle and poeatic preface On Dr.Raveendren however she addressed him as an adivassi vidyan the way Dr.Raveendran addressed by Ms. Thomas suggest the sense of discrimination She addressed him as adivassi vidyan . Vidyan is the malayalam meaning of English word doctor . I absolutely agree with it but the tearm adivassi is erroneous moreover, it reflects the sense of marginalization. Dr.Raveendran is a Cancer specialist. The perception of this nifty doctor on medicine and his curative practice is vivid and rational. Moreover the so called modern people also approach this doctor for the better treatment. It says the ingenious medicine also relevant in Post modern world

It is interesting to read the article which written by Dr.Punithil Kunjabudalla .this article is depict the transformative journey between the indigenous medical practice to various modern healing practice in kerala .Even though, he is a modern medical Practitioner his objective or the crux of this article is all the curative practice engender from raw medicine
Dr.Punjathil kunjabdulla is one of the a renewed writers in contemporary Malayalam literature. And ,this article narrates his curative experience through creative language. The native place of Dr. Kunjabudalla is Vadakara .It is one of the small villages in the northern belt of Kerala .In this article Dr.Kujabudalla portray a couple of doctors who practice ingenious medicine .Also he explain the launch of modern medicine in the small village like Vadakara . The history of therapy in vadakara he formulate from his house itself because , His great grandfather also was a doctor who used to make various ingenious medicine for Cataracts and Conjunctivitis .There was a plenty of consumers for his medicine both in Vadakara and Mysoor .Mysoor situates in Karnadaka which is one of the the adjacent states of Kerala. In order to sell those Surumas every month he was travelled to Karnadaka .
The place in between Vadakara and mysoor is forest and he use to travel by walk towards the destination place . On the way to Mysore he brutally attacked by a cruel jackal and he passed away in the forest itself .Dr. Kunjabudalla is proud to be one of the Offspring of This ingenious doctor. He also memorize such a way that the renowned American writer Ernest Hemingway‘s grandfather was also a dentist and the dental instruments which he was used been displayed in the Hemingway museum at Chicago. Here he gracefully associated himself and his grandfather with the history of Ernest Hemingway
Most of these ingenious healing practices in kerala goes with various religion , rituals ,and beliefs .Plenty of hard core black magic believers were there rather than medicine they prefer the magicians I would rather call them doctors however, Those so called councilor known as Mullas, muslialyans ,Aiyath ,Soors ,Laddan and Mullaka Their prescription of medicine include s chanted water, threads and hymn which written on a white Porcelain plates .They write various hymn in Urdu with the usage of natural ink made out from ink nut .They narrate the mystic text with kamalan it is a one kind of pen and ,it was made out of Bamboo stick . After completion of writing the plate divides into four pieces by using the horizontal and vertical line .He pore a little water in the edge of the plate and smack and scrap with figure .After smacking and scarping the plate that water offer to patient. This curative practice known as Ayethere. Usually the mullacka advise the patient to have either three or saven days of course of Aiyathee .Each day the mullacka used to meet patient in his or her house and make this magical drink .This mystical drink known as aiyathee kashayam .People get cured by those holy water and sanctified threads Here, Dr. Kunjabudallda amusingly narrate about a doctor who practice Sufism in his therapeutic practice .His name was mulla koya thankal. He was not regular to mosque, however he meditate three hours per a day .Dr. thangal had thousands of patients in his dispensary . He look after all patients inquisitively .His means of consultation is amusing because .Apart from medicine patient he also offered delicious food .Rather prescribe medicine He offer various beautiful gifts alike a perfume bottle , a smart piece of shirt ,pocket radio and many more .One day few people approach this doctor with a little deaf girl .Immediate after the preliminary consultation with the little girl .The doctor kept his finger in a glass of water and offered it her to drink . Soon after drunk the glass of water the verbal disability of the child absolutely fade away. The mystical therapeutic practices of the doctors in this article remember me to think about the different characters in the writings of the Latin American writer Gabriel García Márquez

Mapping the Earth and People

Mr.Varuthu is one of the nephews of my father however since three years old my father was his mentor . He was become an efficient driver in his late teenage .He learned the skill of driving from Kottiyezath Kitten Menon.Soon after learning the skill of driving he appointed as a driver in a oil mill where they manufacture coconut oil .The oil mill was close to St. George Puttan Pally . And, my father requested me to go and ask three rupee from Mr. Varuthu for the requirement of my brother Mr. George’s school fees .He dress in blaze rand tie and sat inside the car and I felt a little proud to ask money from him unfortunately his answer made me disappointed . Mr. Louise passed away while he was in Peerakanni and , Mr.Varuthu could not gone well with Louis’s family members so that he discontinue the driver job Later he joined as a driver in Cochin Ship yard Unfortunately ,Within a short span of time he retired from the job and started face various financial struggle . Following ten years the central government of India did not bombard the local people rather, the government of India formed a colony for the people who had house in Shipyard. This migrated place known as Giri Nagar. This township made while Mr. V. V. Giri, was the President of India . The standard rate which Government of India decided for the houses were in shipyard was only for thousand rupee The house where Mr.Varuthu had in the Cochin shipyard also rated same .The rate which India government decided on the property was partially low so that Majority of local people were protest against the decision rather they requested a in genuinely made a request to Mr. Varuthu such a way that to join along with the opinion of local people gathering and request government to give a new house . The duration of the conversation between myself and Mr. Varuthu on behalf of the encroach agreement was three days . However ,He had an idea to shift his living station from perumanoor to the place named Kakanadu .This decision was taken with the advise of his close friend Mr. Varghese he was locally known as Mallon Vakkachan . He camouflage this decision from me .Few days after I have sceen him neare to the gate of Gov. treasure where he came to receive money .Soon after the property settlement with Government He brought ten sent of property in Kakanadu and shifted his place for ever . His younger son was a watch repairer later he looked after his parents .Due to the financial requirement Mr.Varuthu forced to sell the property which he had in Kakanadu and he moved to the Elder son Mr.Joseph ,who had a house at a place named Pallarivattom .Few months back Joseph’s wife omitted blood and passed away.Mr.Joseph had three sons within a year of his wife’s sudden demise he got married with another women she is from Mulavu kadu. Mr. Varuthu could somehow managed the financial deeds and again he brought a little property in Kakanadu itself there he made a shed .Later there was a silly dispute inside the family of Mr. Varuthu due to this reason his wife went back to his elder son Mr. Joseph. There she was unwell at that time and ,on 1966 August she passed away. Her grave is in palarivattom parish .
The second son of Mr.Varuthu was a patient due to the reason he hired a house in palarivattom itself .Because of the unhealthy nature Thomas could not go to job regularly instead his wife Ms.Mary use to do domestic works in one of the richest man Mr. Chackola’s house and look after her husband Mr. Thomas and four children.
